Description

Small Size. Big Performance. Built for Near-Surface Success.

VPEG-8 eVib Brochure
VPEG-16 eVib Brochure

The VPEG eVib is a battery-powered electromagnetic seismic vibrator for near-surface imaging delivering controlled broadband seismic energy without the size, cost, and complexity of hydraulic vibroseis trucks.

High-power electromagnetic transducers generate frequency sweeps from <8 Hz to 800 Hz (full drive 20–800 Hz), so you can design source signals for shallow imaging, engineering studies, and environmental surveys. Because the VPEG runs entirely on 12-volt DC battery power, it goes where heavy equipment can’t: remote sites, urban streets, and restricted-access locations.

The VPEG was developed by R.T. Clark with Mark Davidson (SeisMark) and Seismic Source Inc.

Key features

  • Broadband sweeps: <8 Hz – 800 Hz; full-drive bandwidth 20 – 800 Hz
  • 12V DC battery powered: no generator, hydraulics, or fuel
  • Wireless control: Wi-Fi or Ethernet from a laptop or Android tablet, plus manual push-button start
  • Seismic Source control suite: single or multi-sweep operation and multi-unit synchronization
  • GPS positioning: 20 cm-accurate GPS antenna; RTK correction subscription available through Seismic Source
  • Seismograph triggering: 3-pin trigger output
  • Low mechanical noise: electromagnetic actuation is far quieter than impact sources, improving correlation and signal fidelity
  • Flexible deployment: hand carry, Power Hitch Lift, mini skid-steer mount, or permanent installation
  • Made in the USA

Deployment options

Carry Mount (hand carry): VPEG-8

Carry handles let a small field crew pick up the VPEG-8 and move it from shot point to shot point on foot. That’s ideal for tight spacing, soft ground, parks, campuses, and sites vehicles can’t reach.

Power Hitch Lift: VPEG-8

The Power Hitch Lift mounts on a standard 2-inch receiver hitch. Lower the VPEG to the ground, sweep, lift, and drive to the next point without anyone lifting the unit.

Mini skid-steer mount: VPEG-16

The VPEG-16 mounts to a mini skid-steer for production work, with adaptors available for other carrier types.

Permanent installation

VPEG units can be permanently installed for repeat or monitoring applications.

Applications

  • Near-surface seismic imaging (reflection and refraction)
  • MASW and surface-wave studies
  • Environmental and engineering geophysics
  • Mining exploration
  • Hazard and infrastructure surveys
  • Static correction surveys
  • Academic and seismic research
